Magic fire

Imagine you are a magician. So you want to show some magics in front of your friends.
But here we are discussing about science. So i can help you to doing science magics.


In front of your friends you are taking some black powder in a small paper container  and tell them loudly it is ordinary stone powder.
After   pour some water into the container. Suddenly fumes will be coming out  and the paper container starts to burning.

Wow!  How?


Do you want to show this science magic?
If yes buy a small bottles of glycerin (liquid)  and a small amount of potassium permanganate powder.

Actually the black powder is potassium permanganate and the liquid is glycerin.
If you combine glycerin and potassium permanganate oxidation reaction will take place and it will produce flame.

Check in some standard chemistry book what is oxidation reaction and in this reaction how flames coming out.


One  important thing  before doing this experiment you must beware of the fire and its consequences. and also take permission from your parents.

Home made Litmus paper

Do you know what is the use of Litmus Paper?  Yes;  it will distinguish Acids and Bases by changing its own color.
Here i am presenting for you a home made Litmus paper.
How ?
For this purpose you only need one Hibiscus flower and one white paper. The flower picture is shown below

(In my childhood my home garden contains so many  Hibiscus flower plants. whenever I rub this flower in my hand then my hand color  changed to blue.) 
Rub the flower in the white paper , then the color of the paper will change to blue. This is your litmus paper. just pour some drops of acid (you know our Vinegar is also an acid) in the paper;  then you can see the blue color will be  changing to red!!!. Rub again the flower in one another paper and pour some basic solution . what you are observing? write it to me.

Before doing this experiment you must study the specialty  of Hibiscus flower and litmus paper. It will help you to understanding the science behind this experiment. Also study the difference between acids and bases.

Iron Detector

If you want to know the given material is Iron  then Iron detector will help you...

For making this detector you need
1. One empty small  Soap Cover (rectangle in shape)
2. Two Rubber band
3. One ordinary Magnet
4. One battery and one small LED bulb.
5. One long Copper wire (ordinary wire)


How to make?


First make 4 holes in the middle of the soap box and tie up the two rubber bands there as shown in the picture

Next put your magnet below the Rubber band as shown in the figure
Place your magnet below the rubber band



















Next take the copper wire and remove the insulation and cut it into 2 pieces . We can call it as copper wire one and two. First take  Copper wire one and   tie into the rubber band and another part fix into the soap box as shown in the figure below.  Next take the Copper wire two and tie it above the rubber band as shown in the figure.The distance between first wire and second wire must be in between 1 cm 3cm. ie there is no contact in between wire one and wire two.

Now you take the LED and battery and make a connection as shown in the figure below

Ok.  now connect the two ends the our copper wire one and two.  As shown in the figure

ya...  look at the setup.
Suppose you put one iron material on  the box then what will happen ? . Definitely it will attracted by the magnet and the magnet will go up and the two copper wires will be in contact. Then the LED will blink.
And if you remove the Iron material then magnet will go down.
If there is no rubber band in between the two copper wire then the magnet will go fast and destroy the setup.
Cover the set up with paper and now nobody will understand what is inside the soap box.
